40 Companies Interested in Panamanian Metro Bus

Companies from several countries declared their interest in developing the $270 million public transportation project.

This project will complement the Metro System, and comprises acquiring urban buses for the capital city and San Miguelito. It has attracted companies from Brazil, Colombia, Chile, United States, Germany, Mexico, Argentina, Korea, Russia, Sweden and Panama.

"According to the Executive's calendar, the winner will be announced a month after the bids are submitted, around March 26", reported Prensa.com.

Volvo Gets Order For 1000 Buses To Panama City

Volvo Buses has received an order for 1000 Volvo B7RLE bus chassis to Panama City. The customer is a consortium in Panama called Transmassivo and is led by the Colombian enterprise Fanalca Group.

Metro Bus Out to Tender on April 28

The public bidding process for the Metro Bus transportation system has been pushed back once again.

It was originally scheduled for March 29, was later moved to April 6, and yesterday the Panamanian presidency confirmed it will be officially done on April 28.

Prensa.com reported that a large portion of the participating companies requested to postpone the date.

Deadline Extended for Bidding for Metrobus

The Government of Panama decided to extend the deadline for submitting bids for the Metrobus system to April 6.

Proposals will be received on April 6 and the winner will be announced on May 6.

Presidential Minister Jimmy Papadimitriu, also told interested companies that the duration of the concession was extended from 10 to 15 years.

Panama Launches "Metro Bus" System
