Another use of this money will be to relocate affected public services, like sewers and wiring, once the definitive route of the project is known.

Local news website Prensa.com details other expenses included in the budget: "... a program for communal and communication administration...; a program for overseeing compliance with the National Administration Plan; ...salaries for temporary staff; non personal services; equipment and machinery; and fuels and materials".

Line Two of Panama Metro

Such was the response of Metro Secretary Roberto Roy, when asked about a potential extension of the route by some interested companies. He added that the topic will be studied with the Economy ministry.

$40 Million for Panamanian Metro

The Metro project has $40 million assigned for 2010, in order to conduct preliminary studies.

This budget is financed by the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) and the "Corporación Andina de Fomento" (CAF).

"The Metro Secretary has not yet defined routes nor cost. Neither has it started the bidding process", reports newspaper Prensa.com.
