$231 Million Coastal Security System

Panama is has purchased a Coastal Security System from Italian conglomerate Finmeccanica worth $231 million.

The contract states that different companies in the Italian group will provide components for the project: SELEX Sistemi Integrati will supply a monitoring system and cost control while AgustaWestland will contribute six AW139 helicopters to the Panama air-sea fleet.

In addition, Telespazio will provide digital mapping data for the whole country to the Tommy Guardia National Institute.

Francesco Guarguaglini, Finmeccanica president and CEO, commented that, "this is one of the most technologically advanced systems available for combatting organized crime and controlling borders".

Awards: Installation of Radars for $33 million

ICE Invites Bid for Security Services in Costa Rica
