2010 Re-Exports Amounted to $26.1 million in Panama

The Colon Free Zone re-exported a total of $26.1 million in 2010.

According to official data, $13.1 million were re-exported to Costa Rica and $7.7 million to Venezuela.

Laestrella.com.pa noted that the most exported products were books and print materials, at $3.8 million.

Panama Triples Exports to EU

Exports in 2012 were $488.7 million, whereas in 2011 sales totaled $158.8 million.

With the signing of the trade agreement between Central America and the European Union figures are expected to increase further. 13.5% of Panamanian exports are destined for a European country and are surpassed only by South Korea and the U.S.

More Growth in Intraregional Trade

In the first six months of the year trade between countries in the region increased by 21.8%.

Data from the Central American Economic Integration Secretariat (SIEC in Spanish) shows that total exports across the isthmus in that period amounted to $14,645 million.
