Guatemala to Invest $185 Million in Hospitals

The Guatemalan social security institute (IGSS) has presented its investment plan for 2010 and 2011.

Projects scheduled to become operational between August and October 2014 are the construction of the western, north east and southern region hospitals in Quetzaltenango, Zacapa and Escuintla costing $42 million, $25 million and $43.4 million respectively.

A further $22.3 million will go toward building the specialist pediatric facility in Zone 10 of the Guatemalan capital, expected to be ready by July 2013.

Costa Rica: Tenders Invited for $120 Million Hospital Development

Bidding documents have been published for the new East Tower of the Calderón Guardia hospital.

Costa Rica's social security agency (CSS) has published details of a project to consult, build, equip and maintain the new wing of the hospital.

Danilo Monge, Special Projects Director for the CSS, told elfinancierocr.com that the East Tower will contain 23,000 square meters of floor space to be built in three stages and is expected to be ready by 2016.

Construction Started on New Hospital in Honduras

With an investment of $36.6 million work has begun on the new Southern Regional hospital in Choluteca, Honduras.

The total project cost is $36.6 million, of which $33 million is being financed by the Export-Import Bank of Korea, while the national counterpart is $3.6 million.

Panama to Build New Hospital in Las Cumbres

November 2010

The Government will invest $19.8 million to build an 80-bed hospital.

The new hospital will benefit 177.769 inhabitants of the villages of Chilibre, Las Cumbres, Alcaldedìaz and Ernesto Campos Cordoba.

The project involves construction of an 80-bed second-tier care hospital. The launch is scheduled for 2011 with completion estimated for 2012.

Panama: Between $10 and $20 Million Investment for Hospital Improvements

Up to $20 million is thought to be necessary to improve infrastructure, medicine stocks and equipment in order to save the Nicolás A. Solano hospital in southern Panama.

The Health Minister, Franklin Vergara, will ask the Panamanian congress for a special $10 million loan to be used for the improvement works that the hospital needs.
