The Millennium Fund (Fomilenio) has committed nearly $174 million to be executed in the second half of the year for the enlargement of the Northern Longitudinal Highway (Carretera Longitudinal del Norte, CLN, in Spanish). Several highway stretches will be built, together with a 175 meter and a 360 meter bridge, both over the Lempa river, and other smaller complementary works throughout the entire project.
With a $2.3 million price tag, the bridge is the first project of the Northern Longitudinal Highway ("Carretera Longitudinal del Norte").
Stretches 3 and 4 of the highway "Longitudinal del Norte" would be put out to tender before the end of the year by the Millenium Fund (Fomilenio).
Six companies participated in the bidding process for the construction of stretch 2B1 of the Northern Longitudinal Highway.
Fomilienio expects to tender the first section of the Northern Longitudinal Road in the country’s eastern half.
