13.9% inflation in Costa Rica at the end of 2008

The drop in the fuel prices in December caused the figure to be below the 14.2% forecasted by the government for the year.

An analysis by the elfinancierocr.com explained that "just in December alone, the CPI had a negative variation of 0.42%, that is, on average prices dropped. This is the first time in several years that there was a drop in prices in the month of December and the first time during the year that the phenomenon occurred."

The change from December 2009 to November 2010 of the General Price Index was 6.11%, 3.54% more than the annual variation in the same period last year (2.57%).

The cumulative variation of the first five months of 2013 is 3.22%, 2.50% higher than that of 2012.

Inflation Keeps Dropping in Costa Rica

November 2009

Consumer prices had an upwards variation of only 3.16% in the first ten months of the year.

The Consumer Prices Index stands at 134.064 in October, a 0.23% change when compared to September (133.752).

Elfinancierocr.com reports: "It is the third lowest monthly inflation in the past ten years.
